Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programme (LEDP)

Himalayan Chetna NGO in Himachal Pradesh, in collaboration with NABARD, has successfully implemented multiple initiatives under MEDP (Micro Enterprise Development Program) and LEDP (Livelihood and Enterprise Development Program) to enhance the livelihoods of rural communities. Through MEDP, the NGO conducted mushroom cultivation training, which helped individuals gain hands-on skills and improve their income opportunities, especially for rural women, who are now empowered to produce and sell fresh mushrooms locally. However, some challenges remain, such as the need for climate control facilities to allow year-round cultivation.

Under the LEDP, Himalayan Chetna also supported the production of papad, badiyan, and dona pattal made from green leaves. The NGO organized structured training sessions for community members, enabling them to sustainably produce these eco-friendly products. This initiative not only provided income-generating opportunities but also promoted environmental sustainability by reducing the reliance on plastic products.

Overall, these projects have positively impacted the community, leading to better economic stability, enhanced skills, and a strong model for rural entrepreneurship. The Himalayan Chetna NGO’s achievements, in collaboration with NABARD, demonstrate the power of focused skill development and sustainable practices in improving rural livelihoods.
